Treasury Report

A of today’s date, the treasury balance is $1152.42. $500.00 to be sent to Marianist in Cape May for deposit on Women’s Weekend.

 

Pre-Cursillo

Cursillo

Bernie and Irene spoke with Lori over guidelines for team school formation. Mary Welsh to be Assistant Rectora.  The method of nomination for future Rectora/Rector was discussed. One idea was the existing Rector/Rectora would nominate 3-5 names to Secretariat for choosing.  The idea during the 3 day of placing envelopes on the table for contributions was discussed..

 

Post Cursillo _ There will be no School of Leaders July, August and September in 2011... SOL will resume on October 2, at St. Isidore’s. (9-11 am).  There was discussion the Prayer Groups “Adopt a Candidate” and each prayer group collect to pay for weekend for a candidate in need.

 

ULTREYA – September 23, Thursday @ St. Mary’s in Malaga. Ceferino Aguillion will be conducting the meeting, and will be the witness for this Ultreya. Ultreya will be from 7-9 PM, giving Ceferino 2 hours to cover his agenda.  He will be addressing Pre-Cursillo, 3 day weekend and Post Cursillo to make sure we are following the methodology from National.  An announcement pertaining to this special Ultreya will be posted within the Gospel Challenge and via e-blast.  Mary Welsh will write and send to Joe O to e blast a “Treasurer’s Annual Plea Letter” to all Cursillistas asking for donations to sponsor the cost of a weekend for a needy candidate.

 

Miscellaneous

SJ Cursillo is responsible to present to the Bishop a “Pastoral Report”.  All secretariat members submitted their own goals Suzanne for her to compile and submit to the Bishop. It is the hope the plan is reviewed on September 23, prior to submission on September 30the to the Bishop.

There was also discussion on the loss of venue for weekends, and the possible alternatives. I.e. Golden Inn in Avalon or some other venue.  It was agreed the loss of a retreat center does not pose a threat to the future of the 3 day. 

 

Cursillo Social – “First you Pray ~ then you Play” Pot Luck Picnic at the shore. Date: August 7st. Mass (Pray) celebrated by Msgr. John. Followed by Picnic/Pool Party (Play) Time: 12 o’clock til ?

Cursillo

Bernie and Irene to meet with John Oxley and Michael Jenkins to discuss men’s weekend agenda. Kick-off Mass to be announced...

Men’s weekend will be June 10-13, 2010, at the JPII Retreat House in Vineland.  John Oxley, Rector and Michael Jenkins as Assistant Rector.

Repeat Restor and Rectora will be utilized based on their attendance at School of Leaders.

 

Post Cursillo _ Mary Welsh and Jane Guidotti to coordinate the monthly ultreya. Lori will call potential witnesses.

Mary Welsh was not in attendance.  Treasury balance unknown. Need $200.00 deposit for John Paul II Retreat House for men’s weekend. (June 10-13, 2010)

 

Pre-Cursillo

Pre-Cursillo chair is open.  Nominations are being accepted, as well as self-nominations.

 

Communication

Secretary chair to communicate to Donna Marie any additions, changes or deletions of the email list, and any announcements necessary for posting on the website. It is important that all Cursillo announcements be posted. Email was sent to Pat Wolfe for the updated email address lists.  All future email updates will be coordinating with Secretary chairperson and the database coordinator. (Donna Marie) Secretary chairperson needs access to database.

 

Cursillo

 Anne Coyle will now chair the National Palanca  position. Bernie Romano and Irene Phelps have taken over the chairs for Cursillo. Cursillo needs crosses for candidates. (have 5)  Women’s Weekend is Nov. 5-8.  Candidate/Sponsor applications can be printed from the website.

 

Men’s weekend will be June 10-13, 2010, at the JPII Retreat House in Vineland.  John Oxley is the Rector, and would like to pick team members as soon as possible.  Nominations for the Assistant Rector were submitted for his selection. 

 

Reminder:  Team members must be selected from  Cusillista’s  who Group Reunion, Ultreya and School of Leaders.

 

Post-Cursillo

Try and get each group reunion to sponsor one candidate.

 

Miscellaneous

Kick-off Mass  for women’s weekend will be  Nov 1st @ 4:30PM at St. Joseph’s in Swedesboro, followed by a Pot Luck covered-dish dinner.  Please come and support the team.

 

Nominations for School of Leader director, rather than an Assistant Lay Director are being accepted.  A short description of the SOL Director will be supplied at Ultreya. (2 year term)

 

As previously discussed, there will be one extra Secretariat meeting every quarter on a Wednesday.  This will be a working dinner meeting to discuss and go over all other areas of concern for SJ Cursillo as a whole.  First meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 11.

 

NOTE WORTHY:  There is no stipulation in any Cursillo Guidelines which stipulates a male/female positioning within Secretariat.

The main discussion was  the importance of the newsletter and its continuation. The need of the newsletter is to keep everyone on the same page and informed.  The authenticity in the Cursillo Movement in South Jersey, as well as National should be stressed at all times. The newsletter vehicle will be the means to facilitate. 

Data base maintenance – Should be under Pre-Cursillo. Who has access?

 

Cursillo

Currently seeking an individual to chair the National Palance  position.

 

Post-Cursillo

Tom Vassallo will now be doing all Ultreya’s , and all future Ultreya’s.  Post Cursillo to call all existing groups, and ask that one member come to Ultreya. Find out what is going on within the group.  Post- Cursillo will try to keep each group informed on Kick-Off Masses, weekends, etc.  Try and get each group to sponsor one candidate. Find out who groups, and who is the contact person of each group. 

 

Miscellaneous

Men’s Weekend will be May 14 – 17, in Vineland.  The deposit for the weekend has been made to secure the dates.  Cost of the weekend is $125.00 a candidate, and $100.00 for a team member. No cost for priests.

Treasury Report

Women’s Weekend paid for with a small balance in the treasury.  Cost of the SOL Weekend was $2000.00. Exact amount of commuters and boarders attended the meeting to generate the cost of the weekend.  7 Leaders Manuals were sold, and 7 Cursillo Manuals were sold.

 

Pre-Cursillo

Sponsor Program being organized.  Role of the sponsor discussed, and where we need to go to bring in a candidate. Sponsorship should be for self, as well as the candidate.

 

Communication

 There was discussion on changing Team School into more of a Team Formation, personalizing to the Rectora.  Discussion was on designing a plan or an outline relative to the topic of the week with different suggestions on readings, meditations etc. All suggestions will be approved by the Cursillo chairs.

 

Post-Cursillo

Ultreya was the only topic discussed under Post-Cursillo . Tom Vasallo, Mike Jenkins and Jerry Velasquez will ready St. Mary’s in Malaga for Ultreya. The witness and the music will be scheduled prior to Ultreya.

 

Miscellaneous

Men’s Weekend will be May 14 – 17, in Vineland.  Tom Rorke will be the Rector, and John Oxley will be the assistant Rector. Anne Tohidi is the Rectora for the Women’s Weekend, and Lori Meehan is the Assistant Rectora.  Women’s Weekend will be November 5 – 8. Discussion by Msgr. Frey on his role as Spiritual Director ONLY.  There may be a development of a Social Committee for the possibility of a golf outing, pig roast, etc.

Treasury Report

Balance in Treasury: $2528.23. This is prior to expenses for Women’s Weekend. From now on the Treasurer will be handling all financial matters, and will also be responsible for ordering all supplies needed for the weekends.

 

Pre-Cursillo

Discussed the idea of a “Sponsor Program” for the  continuation of the new Cursillista in the  Cursillo Movement.  Pat will work with John Oxley after the first of the year to implement the program.


Communication

Utilization of the Star Herald and church bulletins to announce Ultreya’s, upcoming weekends, etc.

 

Cursillo

The need for new crosses for women’s weekend. Mary to order, she will have them sent directly to Suzanne Meehan for delivery in time for the Women’s Weekend.

 

Post-Cursillo

Tom Vassallo to relinquish his duties as Post Cursillo chairperson. He will still continue to work with Post Cursillo, but not in the position he is in now.  Need to make an announcement for any one who is interested in the position, so a vote can be made.

Discussion on the preparations for the Men’s Weekend being made by Robert Maldonaldo. i.e. Calls for team formation. No definitive word on Men’s weekend even scheduled. Going against all the guidelines previously discussed. Tom R. will have discussion with Robert.
